Use Architectural Wall Panels to Bring Your Interior Style to Life

At Feature Panel, we know how important your home is — not just how it looks, but how it feels. The style you choose sets the tone for your whole space, and getting it right is all about balance. It’s the mix of statement pieces, thoughtful furniture, and finishing touches that really brings a room together.

We work with homeowners, designers, and builders all over New Zealand who are transforming their spaces — and we love seeing how our panels help tie everything together. Below, we’ve shared a few of the most popular interior décor styles we see and how our panels can help you bring each one to life.

Minimalist

If you’re drawn to calm, open spaces with clean lines and soft, neutral tones — you’re probably a minimalist at heart. A minimalist space feels tidy and intentional, often using fewer pieces to create more breathing room.

But minimal doesn’t have to mean boring. Without the right elements, a minimalist room can feel flat or unfinished. That’s where texture makes all the difference. Panels like our Legacy and Ridge profiles add just enough depth to elevate a neutral space, without cluttering the aesthetic. Painted in soft whites, warm greys or greige tones, they offer that subtle architectural detail that makes a room feel polished.

Mid-Century Modern

Mid-century is all about character — bold colours, curved furniture, and a little retro flair. If you’re into design that nods to the 50s and 60s, this one’s for you. Think mustard yellow, deep orange, vintage vases, and clean geometric shapes.

Our Ripple Flex panels in Black Walnut or our Batten 20 Walnut Panels work beautifully in mid-century spaces. The rich timber grain and warm tones pair effortlessly with classic mid-century palettes and furniture. We also love seeing our panels used in creative ways — wrapped around a kitchen island, or even on furniture legs or entryways, to emphasise the curves this style is famous for.

Coastal

We’re lucky in New Zealand to have some of the most beautiful coastlines in the world — so it’s no surprise coastal-inspired interiors are such a hit here, especially in baches, homes by the beach and relaxed family homes.

Coastal interiors are all about ease: natural materials, soft creams and sandy tones, layered with blues, seafoam greens, and gentle textures. Our Wave, Ripple, and Legacy panels all work perfectly here — their soft, rolling lines subtly echo the ocean. For something a little more dynamic, our Oak Batten Panels, such as our Batten 10 or Batten 20 panels or our Flex panels in Oak are a stunning way to add gentle curves and texture to spaces like kitchen islands, window seats, or feature walls.

Finish it off with woven textures, white walls, and a splash of ocean-inspired colour, and you’ve got that breezy coastal feel locked in.
