As workspaces continue to evolve, the line between functionality and design becomes increasingly important. The recent full fit-out of 063 Studio + Co Working is a clear example of how both can exist in harmony. Designed by Untitled Studio in collaboration with JMAC Architecture, the space is more than just a shared office – it’s a thoughtful environment for creative energy and connection.

 

The Bold Move: Painting Oak

Oak is often celebrated for its natural beauty, so painting over it might seem like an unconventional move. But in this case, the decision to use Feature Panel's Peak Flex Oak painted in black has transformed the timber into something new – rich in tone, yet still expressive.

Rather than concealing the oak’s natural qualities, the black finish enhances them, letting the grain bring subtle texture and warmth. The result is a panelled surface with depth and character — a refined contrast to the crisp black that elevates the space without overwhelming it.

The result is a palette that feels bold, refined and timeless. It’s a perfect match for a co-working studio where design matters as much as practicality.

 

Inside the Fit-Out

Based in Mount Maunganui, 063 Studio + Co Working offers a collaborative home for entrepreneurs, creatives and small teams. The fit-out was led by Untitled Studio and JMAC Architecture, with installation by DC Build. The interior uses Feature Panel’s Peak Flex Oak, customised in a black painted finish to bring sophistication and visual depth to the space.
